Privacy Policy
Salesman.com — Effective as of 1 January 2020, last updated 14 August 2026
Your privacy is important to us. It is Salesman.org's policy to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you across our website, https://salesman.com, our software tool, our community, and other sites and services we own and operate.
We only ask for personal information when we truly need it to provide a service to you. We collect it by fair and lawful means, with your knowledge and consent. We also let you know why we're collecting it and how it will be used.
We only retain collected information for as long as necessary to provide you with your requested service. What data we store, we'll protect within commercially acceptable means to prevent loss and theft, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification.
Who We Are
Salesman.org (trading as Upgraded Media Limited) is the “data controller” responsible for your personal information under this policy. If you have any questions about how we handle your data, or want to exercise any of the rights described below, contact us at support@salesman.com.
Information We Collect When You're Logged In
When you log in and use our software tool, we automatically collect certain technical information in addition to any information you provide directly. This includes:
- IP address — used to help secure your account, detect suspicious login activity, and understand general usage patterns.
- Device and browser information (such as browser type, operating system, and device identifiers) — used to ensure the tool functions correctly across different devices and to troubleshoot issues.
- Usage and log data (such as login timestamps, session duration, and actions taken within the tool) — used to maintain service reliability, improve the product, and provide support when you contact us.
We collect this information to operate, secure, and improve the service, and to comply with our legal and contractual obligations. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles or sell it to third parties.
Our Legal Basis for Processing Your Data
Where UK GDPR or equivalent data protection law applies, we rely on the following legal bases to process your personal information:
- Contract — to create and manage your account, and to provide the core features of our software and services you've signed up for.
- Legitimate interests — to secure our platform, prevent fraud and abuse, monitor and improve performance, and understand how our tool is used. We balance this against your right to privacy and only rely on it where our interests aren't overridden by your rights.
- Consent — for optional activities such as marketing emails or non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Legal obligation — where we're required to retain or disclose information to comply with the law.
Community Content and Information About Your Customers
Our community features allow you to share posts, discussions, and questions with other members, which may include details about your own business and, at times, information about your customers.
- You are responsible for what you post. Please avoid sharing identifying details about your customers (such as full names, contact details, or specific case information) without their knowledge and consent. Only share what's reasonably necessary to get help or provide context.
- Community content is visible to other members. Anything you post can be seen by other users of the community and isn't private. Don't post anything — about yourself, your business, or a third party — that you wouldn't want shared more widely.
- We don't verify third-party information. We aren't able to confirm the accuracy or lawfulness of personal data that users choose to include in their posts, and we can't accept responsibility for it.
- Removal on request. If you believe someone's personal data (including a customer's) has been posted in our community without appropriate consent, contact us and we'll review and remove it where appropriate.
International Data Transfers
Some of the third-party providers we use to operate our service (such as hosting, storage, or communication tools) may store or process data outside the UK or European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent legal mechanisms, to protect your information to UK GDPR standards.
Cookies
Our website and software use cookies and similar technologies, including:
- Essential cookies — required to keep you logged in and to operate core features of the tool. These can't be switched off without affecting functionality.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand how the tool is used so we can improve it.
- Marketing cookies (if applicable) — used to measure the effectiveness of our marketing, only with your consent.
You can control or disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings or any cookie preference tool we provide. For more detail, see our separate Cookie Policy.
Marketing Communications
If you sign up for updates, courses, or webinars, we may email you marketing communications with your consent, or where you're an existing customer and the marketing relates to similar products or services (in line with UK PECR rules). You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing email or by contacting us directly. This is separate from transactional emails (such as login notifications or service updates), which you'll continue to receive as part of using the service.
Children's Privacy
Our website, software, and community are not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Data Retention
We retain this information only for as long as necessary to provide the service, meet the purposes described above, or comply with legal, accounting, or security requirements — after which it is deleted or anonymized.
Sharing of Information
We don't share any personally identifying information — including IP addresses or usage data — publicly or with third parties, except:
- Where required to by law, or
- With trusted service providers (such as hosting or analytics infrastructure) who process this data on our behalf, under contractual obligations to keep it secure and confidential, and only for the purposes described in this policy.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your data, in certain circumstances.
- Restrict or object to certain processing, including for direct marketing.
- Port your data to another service in a structured, commonly used format.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@salesman.com. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or your local data protection authority.
Data Breach Notification
In the unlikely event of a data breach that poses a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users and the relevant regulator without undue delay, in line with our legal obligations.
Business Transfers
If Salesman.com is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, your personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We'll notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
External Links
Our website may link to external sites that are not operated by us. Please be aware that we have no control over the content and practices of these sites, and cannot accept responsibility or liability for their respective privacy policies.
Your Choices
You are free to refuse our request for your personal information, with the understanding that we may be unable to provide you with some of your desired services. Where technical data such as IP address is required for the tool to function securely (for example, fraud prevention), declining to provide it may mean you're unable to log in or use the software.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll notify you by email or via a notice on our website or software before the changes take effect. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Acceptance of This Policy
Your continued use of our website and software will be regarded as acceptance of our practices around privacy and personal information. If you have any questions about how we handle user data and personal information, feel free to contact us at support@salesman.com.
